CAT 2026 admit card: the dates you need

The wait for the admit card is a strange one. You have registered, you have been studying for months, and now a single PDF stands between you and exam day. The good news is that the process is simple, and a few minutes of care now can save you a bad morning on 29 November.

Sources: iimcat.ac.in for the exam date and registration; Collegedunia and Careers360 for the expected admit card date. Careers360 also contains conflicting wording on the release date.

Please treat 4 November as the date to watch for, not a promise. Several education sites give it, but we could not find it confirmed on a page we could read from the official site. The only source that matters is the official one.

Check the release date and log in on the official CAT website: https://iimcat.ac.in

With the CAT 2026 admit card scheduled for release on 4 November, download it as soon as it becomes available and verify your personal details, exam date, test slot and exam centre. Fix any errors promptly and keep a printed copy ready well before exam day to avoid last-minute issues.

CAT admit card download: step by step

The CAT admit card download works from your registered candidate account. Use only the official website, and do not trust links sent by strangers or shared in unofficial groups.

  • Step 1: Open iimcat.ac.in on a laptop or desktop if you can. A bigger screen makes checking easier.

  • Step 2: Click the registered candidate login and enter your CAT user ID and password. These were sent to the email address you used to register.

  • Step 3: Open the admit card link once it is live.

  • Step 4: Read every field on screen before you do anything else.

  • Step 5: Save the PDF in two places, for example your laptop and your email, then print it.

If you cannot remember your user ID or password, use the forgot user ID or forgot password option on the login page and follow the instructions sent to your registered email. Do this now, not on release day, when many candidates will be logging in together. One education site notes that regenerated passwords are not sent by SMS, so make sure you can still open your registered email.

What to verify on your CAT 2026 hall ticket

Treat the CAT 2026 hall ticket like a form you are signing. Read it slowly, with your ID in your hand, and check each of these.

    Check this
Why it matters

    Name and date of birth
Must match your photo ID exactly

Compiled from Careers360 and Collegedunia descriptions of the CAT admit card. Your own admit card is the final authority.

Slot timings reported by third-party sites are 8:30 to 10:30 am, 12:30 to 2:30 pm and 4:30 to 6:30 pm, with candidates advised to arrive about an hour early. Your admit card will state your own times, and those are the ones to follow.

Admit card error: how to fix the common problems

An admit card error is stressful but usually fixable if you act quickly and keep records. Start by checking whether a correction window is open on the official site. If it is not, the usual route is the CAT helpdesk.

    Problem
What to do

    Spelling error in name
Check for a correction window. If closed, write to the helpdesk with your registration number and a copy of your photo ID

    Wrong or unclear photograph
Report it to the helpdesk and carry an extra passport-size photo to the centre as a precaution

    Signature missing or wrong
Report it to the helpdesk with your details and keep a copy of your message

    Wrong category or PwD status
Write to the helpdesk with your supporting certificate

    Cannot log in or download
Use forgot password, try another browser, then contact the helpdesk

    Slot or centre problem
Ask the helpdesk. One site says centre changes are not entertained once the admit card is issued, so do not assume you can switch

Sources: Collegedunia and Careers360. Rules on corrections can change; confirm on iimcat.ac.in.

A good email to the helpdesk includes your registration number, your name as it appears on the admit card, a short description of the error, and scanned supporting documents. Keep it short and polite, save a copy, and follow up if you hear nothing within a couple of working days. Helpline numbers and email addresses differ between sources, so use the Contact Us page on the official CAT website for the current details.

What to carry on CAT exam day

    • Printed copies of your admit card, at least two, on plain paper. A phone copy is not accepted.

    • An original, valid government photo ID. Reported examples are Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, voter ID and passport.

    • One or two extra passport-size photographs, in case the centre asks.

What to leave behind is just as important. Reports say mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, notes and bulky accessories are not allowed. Rough sheets and a pencil are provided, and an on-screen calculator is available for the QA section. Read the instructions printed on your admit card and follow them over anything you read online.

Coaching and education sites expect the CAT 2026 admit card on 4 November 2026. We could not read a confirmation on the official CAT website, so treat the date as expected, not final, and check iimcat.ac.in. The exam is on 29 November 2026.

        2. How do I download the CAT admit card?
Go to the official CAT website, click the registered candidate login, enter your user ID and password, open the admit card link, then save and print the file. Your login details were sent to the email address you registered with.

        3. What if I forgot my CAT user ID or password?

        4. What should I check on my CAT 2026 hall ticket?
Check your name, date of birth, category, PwD status, photograph, signature, exam date, slot and time, reporting and gate-closing times, and test centre address. Anything wrong should be reported at once.

        5. How do I fix an admit card error?
First check whether a correction window is open on the official site. If it is not, write to the CAT helpdesk with your registration details, a clear description of the error and supporting documents, and keep a copy of everything you send. Contact details change, so use the Contact Us page on iimcat.ac.in.

        6. Can I change my CAT exam centre or slot after the admit card is issued?
One education site states that centre changes are not entertained once the admit card is issued. We could not confirm the rule on the official site, so ask the helpdesk if you have a genuine problem.

        7. Which documents should I carry to the CAT exam?
Carry printed copies of your admit card (at least two) and an original, valid government photo ID. Reports list Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, voter ID and passport as examples. A soft copy on your phone is not accepted.

        8. What time should I reach the CAT exam centre?
Third-party reports list three slots, 8:30 to 10:30 am, 12:30 to 2:30 pm and 4:30 to 6:30 pm, and advise reporting about an hour early. Your admit card shows your own reporting and gate-closing times. Follow those.
