Before taking to academics, Prof. Abhijit Roy was associated with State Bank of India for 21 years in various capacities. His positions included Assistant General Manager (Corporate Banking), Chief Manager (International Banking) and Project Officer (Merchant Banking). He gathered work experience relating to project finance, corporate finance, capital market instruments, international banking and branch banking. Later, Zurich Financial Services, as the Advisor, he supported in insurance and asset management to formulate an entry strategy for India, including advising them on the economic environment, identifying Indian joint venture partners and developing detailed business plans in areas like life and non-life business, risk management and asset management. During the same time, he was the Advisor to Banco di Napoli too. During his career, he was also an occasional contributor to ‘The Hindu’ newspaper on the current financial issues. Prof Roy is the guest faculty in leading management institutes in India including XLRI Jamshedpur, IMT Ghaziabad and IMI, New Delhi.
