FIIB campus is always abuzz with lots of meaningful knowledge and skills enhancing conferences and events that add both learning as well fun elements to the lives of both students’ and faculty’ at FIIB. The spectrum of these activities covers building of both professional as well as personal dimensions of our student’s and faculty’s personality.
So on one hand there are business and management related challenges, hackathons, seminars, conclaves and conferences to inculcate professional competencies and etiquettes in them; On the other hand there are numerous cultural, social, entertainment and ceremonial events to help them imbibe a sense of community belonging and social camaraderie. The overall campus ambience is highly friendly, giving a feeling and joy of a close-knit community.
The key ones among the many conferences and events organized at FIIB include
International Management Conference (IMC)
FIIB’s International Management Conference (IMC) is one of its prominent signature events and a legacy that we are proud of. As IMC focuses on and brings forth the ‘Advances in Management through Research, Innovation & Technology’ we have coined the acronym AMRIT to represent it symbolically, as the word AMRIT evokes a feeling of peace, harmony, higher-order enlightenment and a state of bliss – all that we hope to achieve from this scholarly event which stands out for its intellectual enquiry and efforts among in the community of researchers, practitioners, industry experts and thought leaders.
IMC is already in its 6th year now. This annual conference is a promising milestone in FIIB’s journey of fostering excellence in research and
has become a popular and much-awaited event among many in the academic fraternity across the globe
MANTHAN stands for ‘Managing New Threats and Anomalies’, a thought which has emerged and become of utmost importance in the new age world and represents the essence of the newly introduced annual ‘Management Conclave’ introduced by FIIB from this year. This annual conclave is an initiative taken by FIIB to introduce its students to the ‘new normal’ emerging in the business world and the society in general and to make them aware of how the management world is adapting to these changes.
The event is to be organized by the senior batch students of FIIB every academic year to interact and converse with the senior managers from the industry. It aims to bring out the strategic manoeuvers undertaken by the businesses to meet the challenges of the VUCA world (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) successfully and to learn about the innovative ideas and thoughts that have the potential to emerge as the sustainable practices for the future.
Sustainability is a key value that drives FIIB. This value is beautifully put to practice by FIIB-ians round the year through Jaagriti, a student club that stands for social causes. Jaagriti works with a mandate to make a difference in the society by garnering the energies and ideas of the management graduate fraternity. FIIB is one of the few colleges in Delhi that rigorously works towards the cause of sustainability.
To meet this mission, Jaagriti organizes various events round the year and works to create awareness among the college fraternity to uphold the key values of sustainability. The club organizes various social cause drives like Blood Donation Camp, E-waste Collection Drive and Clothing Collection Drive. It also partners with leading NGOs that work in this field to undertake sustainability projects. For instance, used papers from the college are recycled with the help of Chintan Foundation, donation campaigns are undertaken in association with Goonj Foundation and a Solid Waste Management System launched in association with Green Bandhu.
The most fulfilling and impactful social cause events at the college, however, is when the young FIIB-ians host underprivileged children in the MBA campus for a day. Every year the college students celebrate the Founder’s Day with sixty underprivileged children. They organize art competition, health check-up in college campus and an entertainment show for them. It is here that the FIIBian spirit of ‘giving back to the society’ unfolds in leaps and bounds as they fulfil their share of Social Responsibility.
Case study is an important pedagogical tool not only to facilitate classroom teaching, but also a research tool used widely in academia and industry. In fact, case studies are the lived experiences of people and organizations. Taking this thought forward, and its belief that case study method is an important tool for advancement of management research and practice, FIIB conceived the idea of Katastasi in 2013. Katastasi started as a unique ‘case study competition’ organized annually by the FIIB Case Research Centre (FCRC) to inculcate case writing skills among management graduates as well as help in the pedagogy of Management through live examples. The journey of Katastasi saw the competition spread its wings and acquire a Pan-India presence over the years. In recent years, Katastasi has become a part of the Internatinonal Management Conference (IMC)as an open case presentation platform inviting participation from India and abroad.
FIIB, is one of the few B-schools in Delhi that encourages entrepreneurship in its MBA graduates. In order to align and integrate entrepreneurship with business education to help graduates pursue their entrepreneurial dreams, the college introduced Meraki in 2012. Meraki is a Pan-Asia ‘Business Plan Competition’ for entrepreneurs where their ideas face a litmus test in front of leading angel and venture capital investors. The platform provides an opportunity to get seed funding and guidance on improvement of plans that the budding entrepreneurs might have.
Meraki has completed 9 editions so far and each edition has become better and grander than before, making it one of the most sought after Business Plan Competition in India. The competition receives entries from many top management institutes and colleges of India including IITs, IIMs, NITIE, FMS, IIFT, IMT and many more. This competition is intended to give university students a certifiable encounter to adjust marketable strategies and elevator pitches to generate finances in order to successfully launch their business idea.
TED talks are a promising way through which an individual can learn about a variety of things in life simply through others’ experiences. Such talks enrich young, developing, curious and potential minds. This is the reason why FIIB has been conducting TEDx since the last 2 years and in December 2020 it will be unveiling the 3rd edition of TedxFIIB.
FIIB students get to learn a lot through this initiative and it will also broaden their horizons as an audience. Covering major themes one at a time, we as an institute have come a long way to introduce a lot many possibilities to the students through our powerful speakers and will continue to do the same through our future influential speakers
