Acculturation Program 2017

A two-day long FIIB-Walton College Acculturation Program 2017 was held from 20-21 May 2017 at the FIIB campus. Students from the Sam M. Walton College of Business, from the University of Arkansas, visited FIIB campus to explore the city and build connections with their counterparts.

The study group of 30 participants was led by Dr. Vikas Anand, currently serving as the Faculty Director of the Walton College MBA Programs and the Interim Executive.

Day 1 of the FIIB-Walton acculturation program started with sessions by Mr. Prashant Tandon, Founder of 1mg and Mr. Puru Vashishtha, Chairman at Wishfin. It was followed by the icebreaker session between students from both the colleges. In this session, the students sang and danced to various hindi and western favourites.

As a part of the 'Create Your Own Learning Day', different student groups visited various places in Delhi like Chandni Chowk, Palika Bazaar, AksharDham, ISCKON Temple, Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar Market, DLF Emporio, etc. These activities were aimed at providing an exposure to economic, business, political and cultural environment in India. Through basic real life experiences, the students also learnt about marketing and sales, gained negotiation skills, along with understanding Supply Chain Management, and B2B and B2C Marketing.

Day 2 started with 'The Amazing Race' that involved different groups visiting 8 different locations in the city. They had to travel in a limited budget using 5 different means of transport. The aim of this exercise was not only to teach students financial budgeting but to also have them experience the city. Later that day the students went to Hauz Khas village to celebrate the completion of the program and have fun.
