FIIB-Walton Acculturation Program 2019: Embracing cultures and learning new concepts

With a core aim of delivering the right connections and exploring the global communities, a five-day long FIIB-Walton Acculturation Program focuses on exchanging cultural values and absorbing relevant skills was held from 15-19 May 2019 at FIIB campus.

A total of 25 select students along with two faculty members from Sam M. Walton College of Business, from the University of Arkansas, visited the FIIB campus for student exchange program. In their presence, Dr. Vikas Anand, Faculty Director of the Walton College MBA Programs and the Interim Executive, guided them throughout the program and introduced them with the ancient history of India on the first day of Acculturation Program.

On Day 2 of FIIB-Walton Acculturation Program students of both the colleges went for an industrial visit to INDIFI Technologies Ltd. where they learned how Indian Startup Ecosystem works and got valuable insights on raising funds in an interactive session taken by Alok Mittal, Entrepreneur and Angel Investor. He also talked about the role of analytics in increasing sales, importance of hiring the right talent, and the emergence of online workforce in India. His session was concluded with three crucial skills every leader and manager must have: Interpersonal Skills, Customer Centricity and Disruptive Thinking.

The Day 3 of understanding cross-cultural sensitivity and absorbing Indian business mantras was divided into three sessions: Bridging the skill gap in India's young generation with Divya Jain, CEO of Safe Educate of India; Unleashing the secrets behind Indian economy growth with Puru Vashishtha, Chairman person of Wishfin (India's largest Fintech Company); Learning the vocabulary of hand gestures and postures through the beauty of Bharatnatyam with Jyotsna Shourie, Bharatnatyam dancer, choreographer and teacher. Students of FIIB also introduced their guests with diverse India and showed some thrilling dance performances followed by skits in between. The third day was concluded to be the real moment of absorbing each other's cultures and finding joy in acculturation program.

Apart from all these In-campus buzz and industrial visits, Day 4 and 5 are dedicated to exploring the beauty lies in Delhi and learning meaningful lessons out of places through 'Create Your Own Learning Day' and 'Amazing Race' activities. For consecutive two days, students were divided into 8 different groups and visited various places in Delhi like Chandni Chowk, Palika Bazaar, AksharDham, ISCKON Temple, Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar Market, DLF Emporio, etc. Where on Day 4, the roam around Delhi is all about having to economic, business, political and cultural environment in India, Day 5 on the other taught students how to travel in a limited budget using 5 different means of transport.

The 5-Day long drill of FIIB-Walton Acculturation Program 2019 was all about knowing each other's culture better, sharing experiential learnings, and working on projects together through different activities and expertise.
