Guest Lecture on Competency Mapping by Mr. Himanshu Arora, VP - IndiaHomes
July 28th, 2015
PGDM students of Fortune Institute of International Business, New Delhi recently had an opportunity to interact and listen to Mr. Himanshu Arora who is an MBTI, NLP & PEQM (EI) certified facilitator with over 17 years of experience in creating & delivering strategic Learning & Development initiatives. A change catalyst, he has worked across industries helping organizations define clear vision and implementing them through action. As Vice President, he currently heads talent management and marketing verticals for IndiaHomes. Prior to Indiahomes he has been part of Ingersoll Rand the manufacturing giant, CPA Global, world leader in intellectual property solutions, TMI, considered as one of the best training organizations across the globe, GE & the Taj Group. The afternoon at the college campus witnessed a highly interactive session with Mr. Himanshu Arora, the guest speaker; for he engaged in an interesting way by involving the FIIB-ians at periodic levels to do some exercise. By doing so he shed light on the importance of Human Capital in organizations and highlighted the need to focus more on internal buying. Example of Jack Welch, former CEO of GE, and that he dwelt more in boosting the morale of GE employees thereby leading to a splendid enhancement in employee efficiency levels, well suited the session’s discussion. The lecture was finely blended with the stimulating scenarios from organizations that accentuated the inevitability of competency mapping in everyday corporate life. He emphasized that competency mapping is the central to Human Resource and it drives the other HR areas such as Recruitment, Compensation, Training and Development, Career Planning, Performance Appraisal, Succession Planning/Replacement Planning, etc. It serves as the base for all HR Applications in an organization. Towards the end of the Session, grads cleared their doubts and sought knowledge on the required skillsets for competency mapping career goals. To conclude the session, Vote of Thanks was rendered to the Guest Speaker. The lecture proved to be very inspiring and informative as the college students were bestowed with knowledge about the organizational needs.
