Driven by our motto of “promoting excellence in teaching and research”, our faculty focuses on interdisciplinary research and at the same time has relevance and practical applications. Research is often conducted in close collaboration with academic and industry partners. Research outputs have been commendable with innumerable research papers, case studies and reports published by the faculty members.
Katastasi is an annual Internship based case writing competition to enhance the skillsets of students. The initiative is in pursuit of excellence in management education and research. Katastasi, an initiative by FIIB, has been a sought-after event among management professionals and academicians since 2013. Participants in this competition are encouraged to discuss operational and strategic challenges faced by businesses around the world. This case study competition seeks to highlight business problems with a dilemma on the protagonist’s part, which can be used for teaching-learning in management classes or could be used by organizations in the strategic development of a sustainable business model. Case studies will reflect the writer’s ideas, thoughts, and opinions based on facts and figures related to the organization.
The Student Collaborated Research program at FIIB supports student research, scholarship, and creative activities during the academic year. Research collaboration is understood to include in-depth faculty-mentored scholarly projects in any management discipline. We conduct Guided Independent Study (GIS) for final-year students. GIS is a self-directed course for majors and non-majors in a specialization domain who wish to investigate a specific topic or creative project in the specialization. The student can explore the topics in the different strands of literature in Marketing, Finance and Accounting, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, International Business, or Strategic Management. The GIS’s objective is to further develop the student’s ability to carry out and contribute to business research. Through his/her study and orally, the student should demonstrate an ability to plan, conduct, and present a scientific investigation of relevance to the subject of Business Administration and the student’s chosen Master’s program. Further, the aim is to develop skills for critical examination of the research problem and reports and to provide the student with the opportunity for a deeper theoretical study within a chosen area.
The FIIB research grant competition is a shark-tank style competition embodying the entrepreneurial spirit of invention, experiment and problem-solving. Inspired by its mission, FIIB endeavours to provide a perfect platform by awarding funds amounting to INR 2.25 Lakh. The aim of the funding is to encourage researchers to explore ideas that give a deeper understanding of the usability of the research contributions by either solving real-world problems or providing actionable insights. The competition aims to bridge the academia-practice gap by encouraging research ideas with societal relevance and impact.
Doing a PhD is not a linear process. Academic stress, lack of supervisory support, financial insecurities, and uncertainty over the future are common factors that put Ph.D. aspirants in a dilemma. Therefore, it is important to spend some time searching for answers to this dilemma and build a network of people who can equally empathise and understand the PhD journey.
In light of these considerations, Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB) conducts Research Clinic & Doctoral Consortium (RCDC) every year. It aims to extend support to scholars by providing them with an opportunity to discuss their ongoing research and receive constructive feedback, interact with experienced researchers with similar research interests, and discuss career plans with senior academic members and researchers.
Published since 2011, FIIB Business Review (FBR) is a management-focused, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed quarterly journal brought out by FIIB to build a knowledge-based network of management academics, policymakers and practitioners. It carries research and practice-based articles, cases and perspectives providing an enriched knowledge platform to students, academics and practitioners in the field of management. Every quarter, it brings out insightful perspectives on emerging managerial themes, scholarly and applied research works of value to professional managers and academics and management cases that highlight contemporary managerial issues. The journal is indexed in major databases like Scopus, ABS, and Cabell’s Directory among many others.
